CONTRIBUTARY = a word i made up (?) to describe my favorite kind of project:

DIVERSE contributions flow in a common direction to create a one-of-a-kind artwork.

Some projects are meant to explore a particular social challenge; others are meant to connect strangers and their ideas. i design some parameters - maybe materials or instructions or sizes - and then i must let go. Creative control shifts to the participants, who add their own unique sparks. They always do things i had not expected. As the piece grows, one input at a time, something special we did not know or see or have before is revealed.
